Choose DeskTime if…
Choose DeskTime if one vendor for time, absence and shift scheduling is the consolidation you are after, and you want the pricing to be legible at the entry tier.
Choose Insightful if…
Choose Insightful if workforce analytics is a discipline in your organisation — process mining, capacity analysis, headcount planning — or if an on-premise deployment is a hard requirement. That is the case ActivityPulse cannot serve either.
Choose ActivityPulse if…
Choose ActivityPulse if you want neither layer. It does one thing: attribute hours to projects from automatic capture, with sensitive capture off unless an admin deliberately turns it on. If what stalled the last rollout was the amount of the product nobody asked for, that is the difference.
DeskTime vs Insightful — questions
Does Insightful or DeskTime offer on-premise hosting?
Insightful offers an on-premise deployment separately; DeskTime is SaaS only. ActivityPulse is SaaS too, but gives each organisation its own database rather than a shared multi-tenant one.
Do both classify applications as productive or unproductive?
Yes. DeskTime applies the classification as it records and reports a per-person percentage; Insightful applies productivity labelling with trend reporting. ActivityPulse makes no such classification.
Which has a manual timer as well as automatic capture?
Insightful offers a manual project timer alongside its automatic capture. DeskTime is automatic only. ActivityPulse captures automatically and lets someone switch project in the agent.
