ActivityPulse vs Teramind
Teramind and ActivityPulse are not really the same category. Teramind is security tooling — session recording, content inspection, DLP rules and behavioural alerting — that also reports time. ActivityPulse is time attribution built to pass a works council review, with no session recording and no content inspection at all. Choosing between them is choosing which problem you actually have.
At a glance
Teramind facts come from their own public pages, last checked 2026-09-05.
| Dimension | ActivityPulse | Teramind |
|---|---|---|
| How time gets recorded | Automatically, from the foreground window. Nobody starts or stops a timer, so nothing is lost to forgetting. | Automatically and continuously under policy; what is recorded is driven by rules rather than by a timer. |
| What is captured by default | Foreground app and window metadata only. Nothing more without an explicit admin change. | Extensive endpoint monitoring: applications, websites, email, file transfers and more, per policy. |
| Screenshots | Off by default. Available on higher plans and only after a compliance review. | Continuous screen recording and session replay are core capabilities. |
| Keystroke capture | Never records keystroke content, on any plan. | Keystroke logging is an available feature, including content, per their documentation. |
| Productivity scoring | None. Hours are attributed to projects; the product does not grade the person. | Behavioural risk scoring and rule-based alerting on user activity. |
| Tenant data isolation | A separate database per organisation, so isolation is structural. | Shared multi-tenant cloud, with private-cloud and on-premise options. |
| Offline capture | Queues locally and syncs idempotently — no hour lost, none counted twice. | Continues to record offline and uploads when reconnected. |
| Desktop platforms | Windows and macOS. | Windows, macOS and Linux. |
| Entry price (per user / month) | Free up to 3 users, then $4 billed annually ($5 monthly). | Around $12 on the entry tier, rising steeply with capability. |

When Teramind is the better choice
Teramind is the right choice — and ActivityPulse is not a substitute — if your requirement is insider-threat detection, data-loss prevention or regulated session recording. ActivityPulse cannot do any of that by design.
When ActivityPulse is the better choice
ActivityPulse is the right choice if what you need is honest project hours, and deploying an endpoint security platform to get them would cost you the trust of the team and a long legal review.
Teramind alternatives — questions
Is ActivityPulse an alternative to Teramind?
Only if your goal is time attribution. ActivityPulse does not perform session recording, content inspection, data-loss prevention or insider-threat detection, and is not a security product.
Does ActivityPulse record the screen like Teramind?
No. There is no session replay or continuous screen recording. Screenshots exist as an optional, compliance-gated capability that is off by default.
Which is easier to get approved by a works council?
ActivityPulse is designed for that review: no keystroke content, no screen recording by default, data minimisation as the default posture and a full audit trail of what was enabled and by whom.
